Spotted in downtown Richmond earlier today. Note the Uber and Lyft stickers...I’d probably take my chances elsewhere if this showed up.

I’d report this to both companies.

The weird thing is that it doesn’t really look like it’s been damaged in a collision so much as pulled apart by angry customers.

still better than a regular taxi :p

But shit like that is an effect of the “uber economy” people can’t afford basic shit like keeping their car in good shape :(

Yeah, it looks like one that you’d see at a junkyard. Just mysteriously beaten up. I didn’t really look at the driver’s side, though.

Yeah, I’ve thought about Ubering my TSX to bring in some extra income, but then I see something like this and think “nah”.

The stickers could be a joke. I’ve thought about putting an UBER logo on my RAV4 as a joke.

True, but it’s usually obvious when it’s a joke. Like I’ve seen a highly modified, stanced STi with one. Or that one time RCR reviewed an old BMW (I want to say a 2002) that had one.

I really, really want to know the answer to that.

Lol, if it was a new STi, it could’ve been real. But the damage on this Corolla could be why the owner put the stickers on.

No, it was a bugeye. I saw it a couple months ago.

No that’s the effect of not knowing how to think critically and understand the pros and cons of driving as a contractor.

One day I’m going to stop and wait to ask how something like that happened, because I do not know how something like that can happen, yet the paint isn’t scratched at all.

Hard to tell how long the damage on the car has been like that from this photo. But my assumption on why the car is still in such a damaged condition is that their insurance carrier though some form or another found out, and confirmed that the person does uber/lyft. Operating your car for a fee or income often results in your policy being null and voided since the first instance they can prove you started doing this, and they have many easy ways of determining this. So after that part then you pretty much don’t have your own insurance as an option. And most of the time if you aren’t on an active ride, ride share programs may not cover the repairs. This can screw someone badly.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. I was considering doing it part time with my TSX, but definitely not going to now.

Definitely do not do it if you don’t have to. The risk of getting screwed over for thousands of dollars is high. Had a guy I felt super bad for that this happened tp.

He’s scraping by with a couple jobs and then did Uber to try and make money on his commutes . He ended up being super under water on his car loan, and then on top of that, the claim was denied by us because of uber, and he wasn’t on a job so uber denied as well. Guy had a totaled car he couldn’t use carrying like a $35K pay off. And he can’t sell it to try and reduce that loan balance either since the lien holder carries the title. In retrospect, if carrying a 35k auto loan and scraping by, probably shouldn’t have financed a car that high up, but still wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy because it will next to impossible to get a car you have to finance unless you go buy here pay here lot.

Yeah, the only way I would seriously consider it is if I lost my job and was absolutely out of options. My loan is only 11k, and I make enough to pay for it comfortably.
